Sun, wind and heat in the Baltic

Task:

Erection of a wind farm with 17 turbines in Estonia

Execution:

The governmental action plan in Estonia includes the increase of the proportion of renewable energies to 25% until 2020. The aim is, moreover, to boost the proportion of power from renewable resources within this period up to 15% of gross electricity consumption. In this respect, wind power is intended to be enhanced to 900 MW.

Close to the Russian border, in Narva, Estonia, we were able to make our contribution to the rising of the wind energy sector in Estonia.
With two 500-tons mobile cranes from our fleet, we are currently installing 17 wind turbines (type E-82-2) with hybrid towers, 108 meters high.
The towers consist of 21 concrete segments each and are installed step by step.
Within the first building site visit to evaluate local conditions (e. g. ground conditions, wind load, access roads, route survey), the complete site was - back then - covered with snow. Now, as you can see from the photos, the weather is very good, including several sunshine hours.

We look forward to the final installation of the WECs with our LGD 1550 in the next weeks and have a positive outlook for our good cooperation and following projects in the Baltic.

Equipment:

  • Terex-Demag AC500-2
  • LTM 1500-8.1
