Our crawler crane LR 1600/2 has been in operation at the BLG AutoTerminal Bremerhaven from May to the beginning of August for special project loads. With the current set up of the crane, weights of up to 600 tons can be lifted.
The dismantled crane was delivered to Bremerhaven with 35 trucks. The ground pressure under the crane depends on the configuration, the weight of the cargo and the working radius. For this purpose, comprehensive calculations of the ground pressure had been made in advance. At the beginning of May, the BLG team already unloaded a 226-ton generator from a barge with the help of our crawler crane. A few days later, this generator was transported by BLG's own SPMT to a carrier in the direction of Australia.
Now a new weight record was also set by BLG AutoTerminal Bremerhaven:
A turbine weighing 333 tons was unloaded from a Ro-Ro ship by means of the SPMTs. The total weight of the combination including the steel beams and SPMTs reached up to 462 tons, setting a new ro-ro weight record for the terminal. Our 600-ton LR1600/2 crawler crane then lifted the turbine from the SPMTs onto an inland waterway vessel for onward transport to Berlin.
