Constuction of a new offshore wind farm

Lifting of transition pieces for offshore wind farm Merkur

The offshore wind farm Merkur, formerly MEG 1, is an offshore wind farm planned by Windreich and DEME as well as General Electric in the German exclusive economic zone of the North Sea. When it goes on the grid, the wind farm will comprise 66 wind turbines of the type "GE Haliade 150".

Schmidbauer is making its contribution to the construction of the wind turbines: We have been commissioned by OBT (Orange Blue Terminals B.V.) with the lifting of the transition pieces in Eemshaven, Netherlands. There, at the transhipment terminal, the individual components for the construction of the turbines arrive and are brought to their final destination in the North Sea by installation vessels.

Schmidbauer is not only commissioned with the lifting activieties on-site but also with the transport of the components on the terminal and its supervison, planning and execution. Our Liebherr LR 11350 crawler crane along with a qualified crane expert have been on site since April 2017. In 2019 the wind farm is scheduled to go into operation and will have a regular working capacity of approx. 1750 GWh per year.
