Lifting of various storage containers and extractors at the hop processing

The installation of 45-ton extractors into an existing building by means of a lifting frame and parallel placement of storage tanks through a roof opening.

A 60 m long telescopic boom is lifting the storage tanks in 18 m height into a roof opening. The long boom is necessary to reach the 30 m radius and to overcome the interfering edge (building wall 18 m) at 10 m from the crane center. After setting down, the tanks (up to 6.3 t) are transported to their final location by a 10-ton indoor crane.
The delivered extractors are erected with the help of the 220-ton main crane and a 130-ton tracking crane and are then temporarily placed on 4 "elephant feet". In the next step, the two attachment points on the extractor must be shifted by 45 degrees. In addition, a specially manufactured spreader beam must be attached at a small distance (approx. 0.5 m) above the extractor. The crane then lifts the extractor into the lifting frame and places the special spreader beam on the lifting frame.

The crane releases the goods and the lifting frame moves from the heavy-duty scaffold on its rail system into the hall. The lifting frame is lowered at the final position and the extractors are placed in the existing holes in the ceiling so that the pipes can be connected from the floor below.
This process is repeated 6 times on the south side and after the conversion of the STS 400 and the lifting frame, 6 times on the north side at the end of August.

The special feature of the operation in St. Johann in Bavaria is the erection of a heavy-duty scaffold for moving over a pipe bridge at a height of 8 m using a lifting frame. Less than 1 m working width is accessible between the tank and wall for the movement of the lifting frame.
The production (before the Oktoberfest) could not be interrupted which led to permanent forklift operation on the site.
